According to wide spread media reports, Chelsea are allegedly ahead of English Premier League rivals Liverpool and Arsenal in the running to complete the move of Napoli defeder Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Senegal international center-half has shone in the Italian Serie A for a few seasons now, and has constantly been talked up as a possible transfer target for the Blues, particularly since Italian tactician Antonio Conte took the role of manager at Stamford Bridge.
Still, the Italian head coach’s special connections in Italy have not been enough to lure Koulibaly to Stamford Bridge and it’s still not very clear if the player is all that interested in moving to Chelsea.
Liverpool and Arsenal are thought to be in the running for his signature, though the Blues are described as being leading the race for the 26-year-old defender’s signature, as per a report by Corriere dello Sport, as re-reported by Sport Witness.
The report suggests the Blues have formerly seen a €58million offer for the Central defender turned down, but that they are ready to return for him in the summer window, though it’s also claimed he may need convincing to switch as he’s delighted where he is.
The West London club could surely do with a defensive signing of Koulibaly’s quality after some unimpressive form from the likes of Gary Cahil and David Luiz this campaign.
Merseyside giants Liverpool and North Londoun outfit Arsenal also need to reinforce at the back by bringing in major upgrades on the likes of Dejan Lovren and Shkodran Mustafi respectively.
