Premier League club confident of beating rival bidders in £20m Arsenal raid

According to reports, Merseyside giants Everton are allegedly confident of beating Premier League rival Southampton to the winter transfer of Arsenal wideman Theo Walcott in a reported £20million deal.

However, this will possibly depend on the future of Chile international forward Alexis Sanchez amid rumour linking him with League leaders Manchester City from media outlets like the Sun and other top media sources.

The gunners can’t really afford to lose two top attackers this January transfer window, but the Daily Mail suggest the Merseysider’s are confident they can come out tops in transfer race for Theo Walcott’s signature.

It surely makes a lot of sense from the England international forward’s point of view to seek a transfer away from the Emirates, having barely features in manager Arsene Wenger plans so far this campaign.

The Arsenal forward could have some hope of making the Three Lions FIFA World Cup final squad for the coming summer if he finds consistent form in the second stanza of the campaign, but it’s hard to see the player getting that opportunity with his current side.

The Saints have also been constantly linked with an interest in bringing back the player they sold to Arsenal when he was only 16-years-old, but Everton seem a more attractive option right now.

Southampton are hovering above the relegation zone at the moment, while the goodison outfit have been in good form since appointing manager Sam Allardyce as boss, moving up to 9th spot on the English Premier League log.
